Skullcandy is seeking a Human Resources Manager that will lead and direct the routine functions of the HR department including: recruitment, compensation, perks & benefits, leave, culture initiatives, compliance, and enforcing company policies and practices. This individual will collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute HR priorities that enable the business to achieve its accelerated growth goals and foster a fulfilling employee experience.

Business Partnering:

  • Lead implementation of HR strategies and initiatives in partnership with senior company leadership to develop structure, business processes, performance systems, solutions and metrics to enable the global organization to execute and achieve the business targets
  • Effectively work with line management in planning for and meeting business goals and objectives and how HR processes, programs and initiatives can assist in meeting these needs
  • Conducts regular meetings with Company business units and consults with management, providing HR guidance when appropriate
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with leadership as it relates to recruitment and retention
  • Designs & and implements company policies that promote a healthy work environment and increase employee engagement
  • Designs and provides input on workforce and succession planning as well as plans for business unit restructuring
  • Serve as a change agent and consultant to the global organization and/or business units in support of the Company's vision, mission, values, culture, and strategy
  • Partner with CEO on organizational effectiveness initiatives supporting the identification of organizational redundancies, establishing clear processes and communication
  • Internationally, work with leaders on general updates, process changes, performance concerns, and ensure global communication occurs of company requirements and expectations

Compensation:

  • In partnership with the CFO act as the gatekeeper of headcount requests and contract conversions; manages annual merit and compensation increases, ensures data and HRIS changes are completed
  • Manages (and partners) on compensation and cultural initiatives for Skullcandy's international offices; subject matter expert on international benefit offerings, employment contracts, and compensation scenarios
  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent
  • In partnership with the GC, manages the Company's equity and bonus compensation details
  • Act as Payroll approver; ensure all compensation changes made by Payroll Specialist are supported by documentation and accurate; communicate approval of Payroll to Finance Team
  • Develops the HR departmental budget; monitors and controls expenditures
  • Fundamental knowledge and understanding of Company compensation philosophy with the ability to act as a consultant/advisor to managers and senior leaders on compensation strategies

Learning & Development:

  • Identifies training needs for business units and coaching needs and creates or procures professional development curriculum; participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success and follows up to ensure training objectives are met
  • Lead company coaching and feedback process and consistently review with senior leaders the strategic method of reviewing performance at Skullcandy along with specified objectives of the review process
  • Facilitate and/or provide training to company workforce on required issues (anti-harassment training) or key need- to -know initiatives (i.e. performance management competencies)
  • Focuses on the professional development of Recruiter and Payroll Specialist

HR Compliance:

  • Mediate and resolve employee relations issues along with coaching on sensitive issues; conduct thorough and objective investigations when necessary
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance; partners with the legal department as needed/required
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge and understanding of Company benefits philosophy and provides mentorship to HR team on these fundamentals
  • Manages the transition to other HR team members of employee benefits programs; tasks include: studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs
  • Meets with company brokers and vendors to ensure progressive offers and to evaluate top of market trends that will continue to keep Skullcandy as an employer of choice
  • Internationally, ensures compliance with local entities and appropriate monthly reporting (unemployment, cantonal requirements, pension, workers' compensation)
  • Act as point of contact for all HR issues for international Skullcandy locations without HR support (Canada, EU); partnership with HR Manager in Shenzhen on compliance and employee relations issues via bi-weekly conversations
  • Responsible for the completion and filing of company documents in relation to domestic compliance; EEO1 Reports, Form 3300, OSHA Compliance certifications, lead workers compensation management
  • Responsible for the oversight and management of benefit compliance audits; 401k/Dependent Care non-discrimination testing; and subsequent Form 5500 filings

Required Skills:

  • Proven work experience as a HR Manager or similar role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems; ADP WFN and ApplicantPro preferred

Education/Experience:

  • 5+ years of Human Resources experience
  • 3+ years' experience managing direct reports
  • PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP highly desired
  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field; or equivalent work experience
